I’ve had the Friday Girl domain for a number of years now and it’s gone through a number of changes. On the last ‘launch’ I decided I wanted to make Friday Girl a fun resource and community for women and girls and to promote a ‘live life to the full every day’ message.
I’ve realised that most of the content that is written is geared around partner promotions and the original message has become clouded. My aim now is to start to remove alot of the advertising. I will keep some adverts and they will be clearly labelled as such. But I want to focus on the site being a fun resource and not guided by adverts. I will continue to give shout outs to products, websites and services that I like, but they will be only things that I think are genuinely useful or of interest (rather than promoting a product or service just because they are an affiliate partner).
So, my goals for the near future (time allowing) are:
- Decrease visibility of partner (affiliate) advertisements
- Make more effort to write non promotional blog posts
- Invite other women to become an author and contribute fun and useful blog posts in categories that match their own interests and/or expertise (with a profile page and link to their own website or blog).
Is this something that you think would be a good move? Do you have any suggestions for Friday Girl website (and other social presence)? Perhaps you are interested in becoming a Friday Girl writer? Get in touch.
